We Commune Together

This past Sunday, The Son’s Children joined our hosting church, Phoenix Christian Assembly, for a time of worship, prayer, and breaking bread, and what a wonderful time it was! Our entire staff was present as we came together to praise and worship with our brothers and sisters in the faith and it was such a refreshing time of unity. Since we came to our new campus in January of this year, our friends at Phoenix Christian Assembly have been incredibly welcoming

Aloha, Summer

“There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart” – Celia Thaxter “There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart” – Celia Thaxter   Summer is one of our favorite times of the year and what an awesome Summer we’ve had here at the Learning Center.    This summer season zoomed by us so fast, it’s sort of making our heads spin, but we’re very grateful for the fun we’ve all had!   Aloha, Summer to you!   In

It’s Not a Goodbye!

Pretty much all of us have heard the saying, “It’s not a goodbye but a see ya later!” People often say this when they are departing for a time, but plan to see their friends and loved ones again.    I love this saying because it leaves the door open for communication and love between those who are leaving and those staying behind.    It’s a kind farewell and a soon-to-be hello all in one! This past Friday, two of

The Beauty of Worship

“True worship is open to God, adoring God, waiting for God, trusting God even in the dark.” – N. T. Wright We love the children at this center.   In the midst of the diaper changes, accidental (and sometimes purposeful) spill ups, and everything in between, we love! We have the opportunity daily to express the love of God to the hearts of these little ones and to be an example of the Kingdom to them.   Every interaction with

Perseverance

Perseverance is incredibly important… It is not an easy process.    It takes us having the ability to see beyond our current circumstances, whether favorable or unfavorable, and to take hold of this hope that there is something better on the other side of where we are.   One of the best character traits a person can embody is perseverance. To persevere means to display a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.   Here

The Miracle Maker

We often read and hear about how God is a miracle-working God.   We often hear the stories of others who have experienced God move amazingly on their behalf in the most wild & unexpected ways.   These things are wonderful and they encourage our Christian faith so much… Yet and still, there’s nothing quite like experiencing a miracle for yourself. Nothing really compares to seeing God DO something for you that is next to (or actually fits the bill

Processing GRIEF in the Classroom

As you may have heard, we recently had a great loss at our center. A 9 year old student (whom I and so many of our teachers had the honor of teaching) lost his life last week. The ripple effects this has had on our staff, students, teachers, and families have been hard hitting. With that said, the center and all those connected to it have come together in the sweetest way to support the family—both monetarily and morally. The

Kid’s Who Listen

Getting children to listen to the instruction and wisdom from adults can be pretty challenging. As a mother, I’ve learned that my daughters follow my lead most when they feel emotionally and physically secure. As a teacher, I’ve found that a similar thread of trust has to be present in order for the students to hear me out and implement the things I tell them. They have to be convinced that I’m actually for them and not against them. If
